Reddick leads Drive

Former South Effingham High School baseball standout Josh Reddick leads the Greenville Drive of the Class A South Atlantic League in three offensive categories.

His batting average is .319, his slugging percentage is .522 and his on-base percentage is .374. Reddick has played in 54 games and has hit nine home runs with 35 runs batted in.

He also has 11 doubles and two triples.

For the past 10 games, he’s hitting .316 with three homers and 11 RBIs.

Thursday, Reddick scored the Drive’s only run with a homer in the fourth inning in a 7-1 loss to Columbus.

Reddick went 2-for-3 Wednesday with a homer and knocked in two runs against Columbus.

Greenville hosts the Savannah Sand Gnats in a four-game series that started Saturday.

Fellow former Mustang Austin Chambliss has not allowed a run in his last three appearances, which total three innings, for the Tri-City Dust Devils in Pasco, Wash.

For the season, he is 1-1 with a 4.63 ERA in 10 games. He has pitched 11-2/3 innings, striking out 16 and walking four. Opposing batters are hitting .311 against him.

Effingham resident Jason Shiell, pitching for the Triple-A Omaha Royals, is 1-4 with a 4.97 ERA. He has two saves and has appeared in 23 games.

He pitched the seventh inning Thursday in the Royals’ 9-7 win over Round Rock.
