On Monday, Effingham County’s Guyton Elementary and Chick-fil-A will be teaming up to raise money for Relay for Life and to enjoy a Read Across America night with students and parents.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Chick-fil-A cow will be on hand to help sell chicken sandwiches, with a portion of the proceeds going to the school’s Relay for Life campaign. After enjoying their Chick-fil-A meal, parents and students will have an opportunity to read together in celebration of Read Across America.

A PTO meeting at 7 p.m. featuring a musical performance by kindergarten students will wrap up the evening.

The National Education Association’s Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on and around March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss. NEA’s Read Across America also provides NEA members, parents, caregivers, and children the resources and activities they need to keep reading on the calendar 365 days a year.
