Locals earn degrees, honors at Ga. Southwestern State

AMERICUS — Three Effingham County students were among the 300 graduates from Georgia Southwestern State University at the spring 2014 commencement ceremony in Convocation Hall of the Student Success Center.

Receiving their degrees were:

Kaley Basile of Guyton, bachelor of science in geology

Kristin Pair of Rincon, bachelor of arts in music with teacher certification magna cum laude

Savelia Wallace of Clyo, bachelor of science in nursing

Also, Pair and Wallace earned academic honors for spring semester.

Pair was among 165 students who made the spring 2014 president’s list for scholastic achievement at Georgia Southwestern State University.

To be eligible for the president’s list, a student must earn a semester grade-point average of 4.0 and take a minimum of 12 credit hours.

Wallace was one of 280 students who made the spring 2014 dean’s list at GSW.

To be eligible for the dean’s list, a student must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or better and take a minimum of 12 credit hours.
