SAVANNAH – Official enrollment numbers for the start of the winter quarter 2010, show an increase of 18.8 percent in total credit enrollment from the same quarter last year, marking the second consecutive quarter that enrollment has topped 5,000 and the largest ever enrollment for winter quarter.

There are 5,347 students currently enrolled at Savannah Technical College, according to the seven-day report issued by the Technical College System of Georgia. This includes all campus locations.

“Expanding our programs and offering flexible scheduling have allowed us to serve more students than ever before,” said STC President Dr. Kathy S. Love. “And when our new classroom building opens, we’ll be adding more classrooms and lab spaces to serve our students.”

This year, Savannah Tech began offering commercial truck driving, automotive technology and cosmetology in Liberty County, added evening culinary and cosmetology programs in Savannah and expanded cosmetology and welding in Effingham County.

A new barbering program will begin in spring and more programs will be offered completely online this summer. The college will open Academic Commons, a three-story classroom building on the Savannah Campus, later this year.

Savannah Technical College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the associate degree.

The college has two locations in Savannah — White Bluff Road and the Crossroads Business Park, a location in Effingham on Highway 21 between Springfield and Rincon, and two locations in Liberty — on Airport Road in Hinesville and at the Fort Stewart Army Education Center.
