On March 15, the congregation of Jerusalem Lutheran Church began a year-long celebration of its 275th anniversary.

A banquet was held on Saturday evening with many special guests, including several former pastors and their families and Bishop Julian Gordy and representatives from the synod office in Atlanta. Sonny Dixon served as host. A slide presentation depicting the history of the congregation was shown.

Gordy, bishop of the Southeastern Synod of the ELCA, led the March 16 worship. A basket dinner followed and guest entertainers Ginger and David Hilderbrand from Williamsburg, Va., presented colonial music with the harpsichord, hammered dulcimer, violin and guitar.

The congregation will continue its celebration with a wedding remembrance on June 28 and homecoming on Labor Day weekend, Sept. 6.
