AASU presents The Wind that Shakes the Barley

SAVANNAH — Armstrong Atlantic State University will host a free screening of “The Wind that Shakes the Barley,” on Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. in Gamble Hall 103 on the Armstrong Atlantic State University campus, 11935 Abercorn St. The public is invited.

“The Wind that Shakes the Barley” is a 2006 Ken Loach film set during the Irish War of Independence (1919-1921) and the Irish Civil War (1922-1923). This drama tells the story of two brothers who join the Irish Republican Army to struggle for Irish independence from Great Britain.

The Armstrong Atlantic State University Irish Studies Club sponsors the event. AASU’s Irish Studies Club meets periodically for lectures on Irish literature, films, history and politics. It is open to those in the community interested in Irish culture.
