SAVANNAH—The city of Savannah’s Cultural Arts Theatre will be holding auditions for it’s winter production, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged),” by William Shakespeare, Adam Long, Daniel Singer, Jess Borgeson.  Auditions will be held Nov. 5 from 6-8 p.m. in the Black Box at S.P.A.C.E., located at 9 W. Henry St.

An irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard’s plays, “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” takes the audience on a wild roller-coaster ride through all 37 of his works in just 97 minutes. It was London’s longest-running comedy, playing 10 years at the Criterion Theatre. Praised by the Los Angeles Times as “wildly funny” the show was lauded by the Montreal Gazette as “the funniest show you are likely to see in your entire lifetime.”

Directed by Ellie Pyle, the Department of Cultural Affairs new performing arts coordinator, the script calls for three males, ages 18-40. Auditionees will be asked to read from the script. Short (1-2 minute) classical comedic monologues are optional.

The show will be performed in the Black Box at S.P.A.C.E. Jan. 16-18 and 23-25.  Actors will need to be available during flexible daytime hours for potential school shows. For information, contact (912) 651-6783 or e-mail elizabeth_pyle@savannahga.gov.
