July 7–Aug. 16
Exploring Multi-Media Art through Photography
Based on Passing Time: The Art of William Christenberry
Ages 8-11
Instructor: Marta McWhorter, Telfair education staff
Saturdays, 10 a.m.-noon

Materials included
Limit 15 students
This fun hands-on class will combine multiple methods of art-making with the medium of photography. Students will begin working in the 2-D format using photographs and will gradually transition to a final 3-D project in which they can combine all of the techniques observed in the Christenberry exhibition.

Youth Drawing Summer Workshops
Ages 12-15
Instructor: Ben Ward
Thursdays, 10 a.m.-noon

This intensive workshop introduces students to the art of drawing, with emphasis on observation and various rendering techniques.

Aug. 4–8
Animation Workshop for Youth   
Ages 11-14
Instructor: Larry Lauria
M-F, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
$150 members/$175 non-members
Materials included; Limit 15 students
Experience the art of animation in this overview session for youth. Participants will explore the basics of animation—weight, speed, timing, etc.—through the creation of individual animated sequences for a culminating group music video.
Techniques including stop-motion clay characters, pixilation, drawings, and more will also be covered. Each student will have an opportunity to be both animator and director.

Adult Classes
July 7–Aug. 16
Watercolor Painting
Instructor: Kim Salinas
Mondays, 9 a.m.-noon
$120 members/$150 non-members

Visit the lovely historic sites of Savannah to learn to see with an artist’s eye! This class will meet at various spots in the Savannah area, including Bonaventure Cemetery and Wormsloe.
Salinas will teach the art of sketching and composing watercolor paintings. How better to hone your artistic vision than by studying scenic Low Country vistas. Basic watercolor knowledge preferred.
 This is a field class, so prepare to paint and learn in the outdoors.
Rain dates will be determined by class and instructor.

Pastel Drawing for Adults
Instructor: Ben Ward
Thursdays, 6-8 p.m.
$95 members/ $120 non-members

Limit 12 students
In this course, students will learn to use the pastel medium to its fullest potential while further refining their artistic skills and traditional drawing techniques. The class will cover topics such as proportion, study of planes, color theory, the importance of likeness, optical mixing and blending of colors. Some sessions may include models.
Beginner/intermediate drawing level

Life Drawing Open Sessions
Thursdays, 6-8 p.m.
$10/session members $12/session non-members $9/session students with ID. Limit 12 students
This is a non-instructional open session class with timed poses. Loosen up your drawing arm and join us to practice your observational figure-drawing skills.
A model will be present for each two-hour session, so bring your own materials and work in the medium of your choice. Pose and pose-length will be determined by the class.  RSVP required each week; call 790-8823 to register for individual sessions or enroll for multiple classes ahead of time.  

Sketching in Savannah
Instructor: Larry Lauria
Saturdays*, 9 a.m.-noon

“Sketching in Savannah” allows participants the opportunity to test their observational skills and quick-sketching techniques while enjoying art in the outdoors during the early morning hours.
Lauria, a seasoned animator and artist from the Disney Institute, will instill students with the confidence and ability to capture people in motion as well as the intricate architectural details of Savannah’s urban environment.  
Watercolorists welcome!
*6 sessions (Saturday, July 12-Aug 23; no class Aug 16)   

All classes take place at the Jepson Center for the Arts located at 207 W. York St., Savannah.
