SAVANNAH — The Will Goble Group, all natives of North Carolina, have been captivating audiences with a sultry and seductive jazz that pours out onto the city streets and fills in the gaps between various jazz genres.

The Will Goble Group is Will Goble-upright bass, Dave Potter-drums and Austin Johnson-piano.

The accomplished trio has been playing together for years and considered by some to be a wonder that has yet to be fully discovered.

Goble performs throughout the U.S., both as part of his trio and also as a much in-demand bassist for other musicians.  He boasts a full, dark sound, a strong desire to swing, and the commitment to support his fellow musicians in any ensemble.

Goble has appeared as a sideman with Grammy award-winning pianist Marcus Roberts and with numerous other notable artists, including Vincent Gardner, Wycliffe Gordon, Kevin Bales, Scotty Barnhart, Barry Green, Philip Harper, Jason Marsalis, Takana Miyamoto and Stephen Riley among others.

He currently performs frequently as a member of the David Guidi Quartet, as well as the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet. He has also recorded live with the Equinox Jazz Orchestra.

He recently received his master’s degree from Florida State University, where he worked as a graduate teaching assistant in the jazz studies program assisting Marcus Roberts in developing educational curricula for new college students interested in studying jazz.

The concert will be held on July 27 at 5 p.m. at Four Points by Sheraton Historic Savannah - 520 West Bryan St. (Bryan and MLK).  The concert is free for Coastal Jazz Association members and $10 for non-members. Attendees who join CJA while at the concert will also be admitted for free.
