SouthCoast Medical Group Pediatricians will participate in Camp CoDiak (Controlling Diabetes in Kids).

Camp CoDiak is a summer camp for kids with diabetes.  This year’s camp will offer a week-long, overnight camping experience for children ages 5-13, and will be held at the New Ebenezer Retreat Center.

The goals of the camp are to have fun in a safe environment with medical supervision, provide opportunities to increase learning of diabetes self-management skills, and to interact with others who have diabetes.  Certified diabetes educators and other health care professionals will be on site to monitor the kid’s health and provide support.

Dr. Keith Seibert, Dr. Nelson Elam, and Dr. William Webb will each spend a night at the camp through June 7.  They will spend their time interacting with the campers in traditional camp activities and learning about the concerns and challenges that children with diabetes encounter.

They will also be on hand to answer questions and provide on site support.

Schedules:
• Dr. Webb – Through Tuesday, mid-day

• Dr.Seibert – Today, 6:30 p.m. – Wednesday, mid-day

• Dr. Elam – Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. – Thursday, mid-day
