The second Springfield Fall Festival brought another huge crowd to the city’s downtown, organizers said.

Jamey Stancell of the Springfield Merchants Association estimated there were 4,000 people on hand Friday night and another 3,500 Saturday to hear headliner Josh Sanders. Stancell also said there were about 2,000 people taking part in the fall festival throughout the day Saturday.

“The crowd was huge,” Stancell said. “It was huge. It was a great event for downtown Springfield.”

The number of food and arts and crafts booths grew from 37 last year to 69 this year, according to Stancell. He also said the kids play area, which was busy throughout Saturday, will expand in future fall festivals.

“The kids area will grow,” he said. “I promise next year there will be even more for the kids to do.”
