Green gets commissioned

William Green was recognized at a commissioning ceremony Feb. 15 where he was commissioned as an ensign in the U.S. Navy.

Green is the son of Charlie Green Jr. of Savannah and Patricia Green of Guyton.

Green graduated from Effingham County High School in 1989 where he was a running back on the Rebels football team.

Green enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating from high school. He served active duty until 1996. From that time until 2001 he served as a Marine Reserve. After five years serving in the reserves he returned to full service as a Petty Officer Second Class in the U.S. Navy.

Green has been awarded the Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Navy/Marine Good Conduct Medal and various other campaign and service awards.
