SCMPD to hold boater safety class

The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Marine Patrol Unit will conduct a boater safety class July 20 at the Savannah Mall metro training center.


Approved by the Department of Natural Resources, the free class is open to anyone age 12 and older. Beginning in July 2014, anyone born after 1998 must take the Georgia Boater Safety Class to operate a vessel on Georgia waters.


The class starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. The training center is on the second floor just outside the Dillard’s entrance. The class is limited to 25 people.
