Former Reform Party VP pick to unveil alternative to Wall Street bailout

Former Ford administration senior economic advisor and Reform Party vice-presidential candidate Dr. Pat Choate will unveil a non-partisan alternative to the $700 billion Wall Street bailout package during a midday news conference in Savannah for John Stone for Congress on Oct. 17.

A financial forum on the plan following the news conference will be hosted by state Sen. Regina Thomas (D-Savannah), state Sen. Eric Johnson (R-Savannah), former U.S. Rep. J. Roy Rowland, MD (D-Dublin), and other elected officials and community leaders.  

Dr. Choate holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Oklahoma, and is a former economics professor at George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. He has authored over 200 publications on diverse public policy issues such as U.S. competitiveness in world trade, politics and education. Dr. Choate was director of the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration Office of Economic Research under President Ford and was the Reform Party’s vice presidential candidate in the 1996 presidential election.
