Two drug suspects are in custody after selling crack cocaine to undercover agents late Wednesday night during a drug operation in south Effingham County.

Edwin Gary Burroughs, 44, of Eden, and Helen Wright, 43, of Eden were both arrested at a residence on Shady Oaks Drive and charged with the sale of cocaine, and conspiracy to commit a crime. Deputies seized a quantity of crack cocaine during the arrests as well.

Burroughs and Wright each were out on bond for prior drug charges.

"These arrests are part of an ongoing operation within Effingham County to eradicate drugs from our community," said Effingham Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie. More arrests are expected.

Burroughs and Wright are being held in the Effingham County Jail.
