Guyton woman found dead Sunday morning identified as Courtney Wells

The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what is being called a suspicious death after a woman was found deceased lying along a dirt road in Guyton Sunday morning.

As of Monday, the Sheriff’s Office had identified the deceased as Courtney Wells, a 27-year-old woman from Guyton. Wells’ body was found on Riverside Drive.

Deputies reported that Well’s body was found on one side the dirt road with her belongings being found on the opposite side of the road.

At the time of press, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office had not yet released the cause of death as they are withholding it while they continue their investigation.

While it is possible that a witness may have seen something, none have come forward with any information yet. Anyone who does have information pertaining to this investigation is urged to contact police immediately.

The Jesup native had lived in Effingham County for the past seventeen years and leaves behind her four children.
