Staff Reports

If it seems a little smoky outside today, it might not be just dirty lenses on your glasses. The smoke is from wildfires burning in Canada.

According to www.fire.airnow.gov, the air in Effingham County is listed as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.” People with respiratory health issues should reduce outdoor activity and go indoors if symptoms worsen.

At-risk groups include people with heart- or lung disease, senior citizens, young children, and pregnant women.

According to various news websites, there are more than 800 fires currently burning across Canada.
