A man investigators say was involved in two car wrecks in one night has died.

Jason Kicklighter, 33, of Rincon died Thursday at Memorial Health University Medical Center, according to Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

Kicklighter was seriously injured in a single-car crash May 12 around 9:30 p.m., in a car that had been involved in a hit-and-run earlier that night. The car crashed into a wooded area along McCall Road near Ralph Rahn Road, and Kicklighter was thrown from the car, Ehsanipoor said.

A short time before that wreck, a vehicle matching the description of the car Kicklighter was driving had been involved in a hit-and-run on McCall Road at Highway 21.

“It’s the same car,” Trooper Joel Mock of the Georgia State Patrol confirmed at the time.

Kicklighter was airlifted to Memorial Health Medical Center. He survived for 10 days before succumbing to his injuries Thursday.
