A celebration is set Sunday for Coach Marion Dingle who coached sports in Effingham County from 1962 at Springfield Central High and then Effingham County High School, all the way to his retirement in 1985.

His teams won many boys’ and girls’ state titles at both schools.

Festivities are set to be held Sept. 29, 2-6 p.m. at the Springfield Central High School gym,  

434 Wallace Dr., Springfield.

All alumni who played for Coach Dingle are encouraged to attend. There is a suggested donation of $2 at the door to cover the cost of the commemorative program.
