Georgia Southern University softball outfielder Marie Fogle was named Southern Conference Softball player of the week for the week of March 12-18. The Eagle outfielder paced all SoCon batters with a .550 batting average last week.

The Rincon native and former Effingham County High School star had a pair of 3-for-3 outings last week. In game one against Mercer, Fogle went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored as she slugged her third home run of the season. In the weekend opener, Fogle posted another 3-for-3 game on St. Patrick’s Day en route to a big Eagle victory to open the series.

Fogle slugged 1.000 on the weekend with two doubles, two triples and the home run. Her .550 batting average was the result of an 11-for-20 weekend. She scored five runs while driving in three more runs. Fogle also earned three walks to post a .609 on-base percentage for the week and went 5-for-5 stealing bases.

The Eagles head to Kennesaw State this weekend for a three-game non-conference series against the Owls. The set starts Saturday at 2 p.m. with a doubleheader at KSU.
