The East Georgia State College Lady Bobcats softball team picked up two season-opening wins Tuesday in its home opener  against Brewton-Parker College's JV. The Bobcats prevailed 4-2 and 13-5.

The Bobcats were led on the mound in the first game by Britney Foster, who struck out nine and allowed two runs in seven innings.

Alaina Lee, Allana Hooks, former Effingham County standout Taylor Morgan and Jana Crews provided the Bobcats with run support. Hooks knocked in Lee and Morgan in the sixth inning with a double off the center-field fence to break a 2-2 tie.

In game two, the Bobcats fell behind 2 to 0 in the first inning but came storming back in the third inning, scoring seven runs.

Sierra Taylor, Crews, Morgan, Makenzie Wilkerson, Lee,  Hooks and Stephanie Ruffin all got hits in the inning and the Bobcats never looked back.

Madison Bussell got her first win of the season with four innings of work with Payten Strickland closing out the final two inning.

"We provided great run support for our pitchers Tuesday,” stated the Bobcats head coach Chuck Wimberly. “Game one was a pitchers' duel and Britney Foster did really well holding on and getting the victory for us on the mound. Game two saw our bats come alive and post 13 runs, which makes pitching a little easier. Alaina Lee and McKenzie Wilkerson both caught great games for us behind the plate, and Madison Bussell and Payten Strickland may have pitched their best games collegiately. Defensively we made no mistakes and that was key in our victories."
