SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County boys won their seventh straight game Friday night, defeating Bradwell Institute 76-42 in the first round of the Region 2-AAAAAA tournament and earning a spot in the Class AAAAAA state tournament.

The third-seeded Rebels (18-5) advanced to the region semifinals against second-seeded Richmond Hill on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Statesboro High School.

Friday, ECHS trailed 7-6 early on before ending the first half on a 9-0 run and outscoring the Tigers 22-9 in the second quarter to build a 37-16 halftime lead.

Khiry Wallace led the Rebels in scoring with 15 points. Keion Wallace had 14 points, Rashad Scott added 11 and Ashley Thompson had 10.
