Men’s Basketball
Demontrez Austin (Jacksonville University) — In six games, the former Effingham County High School star is averaging three points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
Jakeenan Gant (Univerisity of Missouri) — The sophomore forward is averaging 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game. He has scored four points in a game three times this season.
Tyler Hagan (Savannah State University) — Hagan, who also plays football at SSU, has not played yet in any of the first seven games for the Tigers (3-4). Savannah State hosts Georgia Southern tonight at 8 p.m.
TJ Rines (Thomas University) — In seven games, Rines is averaging 4.1 points per game. He also has compiled 20 assists and 19 rebounds for the Hawks.
Ryan Wilkins (Middle Georgia State College) — Wilkins is second on the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game. He is 9-of-24 from 3-point range and also is averaging 4.3 rebounds per game.
Jay Wright (University of Louisiana-Lafayette) — The junior point guard is averaging 11 points and 3.3 assists per game for the Ragin’ Cajuns. He also is averaging 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game. Wright had 13 points and eight assists in a loss at Miami (Fla.).
Women’s basketball
Jakayvea Akins (Georgia Southern University) — Akins has not played in the Lady Eagles’ first three games. Georgia Southern plays at Savannah State today at 6 p.m., with the men’s teams playing right after.
Brooke Fowler (East Georgia College) — In two games for the Lady Bobcats, Fowler has scored five points.
Tianna Germain (East Mississippi College) — The former South Effingham High School star has played in five games and is averaging 7.2 points per game. She also is averaging 3.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game.
Kyesha Lewis (Mercer University) — In five games, the former ECHS star is averaging 2.2 points per game. Mercer plays at Georgia today.
Machala Raymonville (Armstrong State University) — Raymonville has played in all seven games for the Lady Pirates and is averaging 6.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She also has eight steals for the Lady Pirates, who are 7-0 and ranked No. 15 in the country.
