Armstrong State University senior shortstop Alexis Mercer was named the Peach Belt Conference’s softball Player of the Week last week.

The two-time Peach Belt Conference player of the year, Mercer pieced together a historic weekend helping the Pirates go 2-2 in their home tournament. She hit four home runs in four games, two of which came in their first game against Lenoir-Rhyne. The biggest home run came in game two against Lenoir-Rhyne when the former South Effingham High School star smacked her 51st career home run and broke the Peach Belt Conference career home run record.

For the weekend Mercer hit .583, slugged 1.667, and also had a .667 on base percentage with nine RBIs and two stolen bases. This is Mercer’s fifth career PBC player of the week honor and first of this season.

She is hitting .515 with six home runs and 17 RBIs, slugging 1.152 in 12 games.
