Reddick Home Run Derby set for Jan. 17

The third annual Josh Reddick Home Run Derby will be held Jan. 17 at Sand Hill Park, beginning at 9 a.m. Entry fees are $20 per person and age groups for boys and girls are 10-12, 13-15 and 16-adult. There also will be a silent auction and autograph session.

A concert later that night will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Effingham County Fairgrounds in Springfield, with Josh Sanders, Brian Fuller and Chris Cagle. Admission is $20.

South Effingham Dominates Calvary Day 67-11 in Girls’ Basketball

GUYTON, Ga. — South Effingham girls’ basketball overwhelmed Calvary Day 67-11 on Friday. The Cavaliers managed just three field goals all game. Junior guard Kailyn Chapman scored a game-high 24 points, including 22 in the first half, fueling an 18-0 run that gave the Mustangs a 27-2 lead. Junior forward Alayiah Lewis added 12 points.

 The win marked SEHS’s fourth consecutive victory, improving their record to 4-1.
