South Georgia Combat teams battle to titles

The 8-and-under and 9-and-under South Georgia Combat baseball teams from Effingham took home two championships recently. The U8 team won the Early Bird Classic at Mill Creek Regional Park in Statesboro by going 4-0 on Saturday. In the championship game, Josh Ford hit a walk-off home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The 9U team played in their first kid pitch tournament of the year in Rincon’s Top Gun Tournament. They defeated the Chain and Camden Storm before beating the Crushers in the championship. Jackson Walker was the starting pitcher and Michael Hesling came in to close it out.
