Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating an accident involving a motorcycle which has left one man seriously injured.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to a report of an accident with injuries at Honey Ridge Road near Elkins Cemetery Road. Upon their arrival, they found the driver of a motorcycle, Ronald Pierson, 47, of Guyton, suffering from serious injuries.

Pierson has been charged with driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane.

Pierson was transported to Memorial Health University Center in Savannah.
