Saturday night’s storms that swept through Effingham County also ripped up a barn and a handful of pine trees on a farm near Kildare.

A 20 by 12 barn was destroyed and four pine trees at Tuttle Farm were uprooted by the storm.

“So it had to be something pretty big,” said Carolyn Hilten, who lives with her husband John at Tuttle Farm. “The wind was really whipping here.”

The barn has two stalls and the wind almost carried it to the Hilten’s house.

“Another 20 yards and it would have hit our house,” she said.
