ECHS' Whiten named all-region

Zach Whiten of Effingham County was picked to the all-Region 3-AAAA tennis team by the region coaches.

Tyler Flander of Ware County was named the boys player of the year. Others on the all-region boys team were:

Roy Beverly - Ware County
Ben Cart - Glynn Academy
Ethan Joyce - Ware County
Kyle Driese - Wayne County
Ravi Patel - Glynn Academy

Erin McKeon of Glynn Academy was named girls region player of the year.

GUYTON, Ga. — South Effingham girls’ basketball overwhelmed Calvary Day 67-11 on Friday. The Cavaliers managed just three field goals all game. Junior guard Kailyn Chapman scored a game-high 24 points, including 22 in the first half, fueling an 18-0 run that gave the Mustangs a 27-2 lead. Junior forward Alayiah Lewis added 12 points.

 The win marked SEHS’s fourth consecutive victory, improving their record to 4-1.
