Lady Mustangs race to 5-0

BLUFFTON, S.C. -- A 17-2 third-quarter run powered the South Effingham Lady Mustangs to a 56-43 victory over the Bluffton Lady Bobcats on Friday.

Mallori Jenkins started the uprising by pouring in eight points in a span of 26 seconds. She broke a 27-27 halftime deadlock with two 3-pointers and a couple of free throws during her flurry in the first 96 seconds of the third quarter.

Bluffton (1-1) didn't sink a field goal during the third period. Its lone points came on free throws by Samari Mitchell.

The Lady Bobcats reeled off an 8-0 spurt early in the final quarter but never got closer to the lead than 11 points.

Jenkins led South Effingham, which improved to 5-0, with 15 points. Melanie Zeigler added 10. 

Mitchell amassed 21 points for Bluffton.
