Effingham County High School FBLA attended the Region 3 Leadership Conference at Wayne County High School on Jan. 21. Twenty-two members attended and competed in different business areas. The areas included taking online tests, skills tests, and performance events.

Those placing were:
Tyler Defoe Accounting I, third place
Cameron Crosby Accounting I, first place
Aaron Williams, Accounting II, first place
Nakia Wilson, Business Calculations, eighth place
Sydney Hammock and RaeAnna Sherwood, Desktop Publishing, fourth place
Jon Braswell, Spreadsheet Applications, first place
Robbie Moore Word Processing I, sixth place
Tiffany Johnson, Word Processing II, ninth place
Elondia Harden, Tiffany Johnson and Britney MacCrae, Emerging Business Issues, first place
Jacoby Jones, Public Speaking II, third place
Aaron Williams, Future Business Leader, third place

The students were especially proud of earning first place in Emerging Business Issues as it was very challenging and consisted of the students preparing an affirmative and negative argument about the automotive bailout issue. The students were unaware as to which argument they would present until minutes before they were to perform.

The first through third place winners will travel to Atlanta in March to compete at the state level.
