Effingham County Recreation and Parks hosted its annual Candy Cane Hunt on Dec. 5. Because of inclement weather, the event took place in the Recreation Gym.

Games such as bean bag toss, basketball, soccer and guessing games were played for candy and prizes. Approximately 135 children participated in a candy cane grab bag game in which certain bags contained “prize” candy canes. Lunch was served to almost 200 guests, and Santa Claus even showed up to give out goodie bags and take pictures with the kids. The event was free to children up to age 13 and their families.

ECRP asked for donations of canned goods for Effingham’s food pantries.
