The Clean Cut: Georgia football star joins book club

I finished the Hunger Games series in about two days, Mitchell responded when asked by CBS to identify his proudest accomplishment. (Scoring touchdowns) came natural. I had to work to read.

It's not every day you run into a college football star in Barnes & Noble. It is even more rare that the college football player asks to join your book club. But CBS Sunday Morning reports that is precisely what happened to Kathy Rackley when she ran into University of Georgia receiver Malcolm Mitchell.

Mitchell was highly recruited out of high school and faced any football player’s dream of having his choice between attending the University of Georgia or the University of Alabama. While Mitchell excelled on the football field, he came to Athens with a junior high reading level. That all changed when he joined Rackley’s book club and fell in love with reading.

“I finished the “Hunger Games” series in about two days,” Mitchell responded when asked by CBS to identify his proudest accomplishment. “(Scoring touchdowns) came natural. I had to work to read.”

The video that shows Mitchell attending his book club has been viewed more than 168,000 times on YouTube.
