The Historic Effingham Society is planning an old-fashioned Christmas for the first Saturday in December.
The event, Old-Fashioned Christmas, will be held on the grounds of the Living History Site in Springfield on Dec. 4 beginning at 6 p.m. It will include caroling, choir performances, ornament making, the lighting of the Christmas tree, s’mores making and a visit from Santa Claus.
“It’s going to be an old-timey Christmas,” said HES President Richard Loper. “We’ll have hand bells and children’s choirs. There will be a reading of the Christmas story and the lighting of the tree.”
