Master Sgt. Darryl L. Turner has earned promotion to the senior non-commissioned officer’s rank of senior master sergeant. Senior Master Sgt.
Turner serves as the aircraft maintenance Superintendent working in the aircraft maintenance office at Savannah’s Combat Readiness Training Center (CRTC), Georgia Air National Guard. The CRTC is headquartered across the airfield from the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.  
 
Senior master sergeants are key, experienced, operational leaders, skilled at merging their personnel’s talents, skills and resources with other teams’ functions to most effectively accomplish the mission. Senior master sergeants continue to develop their leadership and management skills in preparation for expanded responsibilities and higher leadership positions. They normally operate at the operational or decision-making leadership level. (Air Force Instruction 36-2618, The Enlisted Force Structure)
 
In addition to his aircraft maintenance duties, Senior Master Sgt. Turner serves as the munitions accountable systems officer, overseeing the effective and efficient management of the conventional munitions stockpile. Additionally, he serves as hazardous waste manager and vehicle control officer for the CRTC Operations section.  
 
A veteran of 28 years of military service, his past assignments include service with the 116th Fighter Wing Dobbins Air Reserve Base (1981-94)
where he served as a crew chief on F-105, F-4 and F-15 fighter aircraft.  His service also includes deployments to Spangdahlem Air Base Germany, Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii and Incirlik Air Base Turkey. 
 
Senior Master Sgt. Turner and his family live in Guyton.
