The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is continuing its probe into the shooting death of a Springfield woman.
Authorities have arrested and charged Luis Edgardo Vendrell with homicide in the death of Nova Jill Saffles.
Officers were called out to a domestic dispute on Maple Street, and the shooting appears to be the result of a domestic dispute, according to the GBI.
They found Saffles, 39, shot dead inside her home on North Maple Street. Springfield Police requested the GBI’s assistance in the case.
Vendrell was arrested a short time later during a traffic stop by Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies. Vendrell, 52, is believed to be Saffles’ boyfriend.
The GBI medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy Monday of Saffles’ body, and the investigation is still in its preliminary stages, according to the GBI.
