An Effingham County woman died Wednesday after she was struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning.

Carolyn Rahn of Hodgeville Road was hit by a white Chevrolet Silverado driven by Florentino Lopez of Rincon around 12:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Hodgeville and Kolic Helmey Roads, according to a Georgia State Patrol accident report.

Lopez was going south on Hodgeville Road when he hit Rahn, who was standing or walking on Hodgeville Road at the time, according to the report.

Rahn was taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center by Effingham County Emergency Medical Services.

Lopez was not drinking at the time of the accident, according to the report. The posted speed limit on the road is 35 mph and there is no indication Lopez was speeding at the time.

The Georgia State Patrol is continuing to investigate.

Lopez is an officer with the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department.
