The Springfield City Council approved an agreement with EMC Engineering to work on permitting for the land application site.
The cost of basic service will be a maximum of $14,055, and the reimbursable expenses are estimated to cost $22,700.
Councilman Kenny Usher said he thought the services for the project should be bid out to other firms.
Councilman Dennis Webb said he was not apposed to bidding out the project, but it would slow down the project.
“We’re trying to fast track this spray field, but if we do that, we have to wait 30 days and then award the bid,” Webb said.
Councilman Charles Hinely said he would like to see projects bid out, but this project is on a timeline.
Councilman Butch Kieffer said he agreed.
“I would like to see stuff put out for bids,” Kieffer said. He said in this case he felt the agreement should be approved.
“In the future anything that comes up I would request that we get bids on,” he said.
Hinely said if the timeline for the spray field slowed down it would affect other projects as well.
“From now on, we can put it out on bids and see what we get back,” he said.
