Zeigler to announce run for chairman

Curtis Dustin “Dusty” Zeigler will announce his candidacy for county commission chairman on Monday at noon at the Effingham County Judicial Complex.  

Zeigler is a native and lifelong resident of Effingham County.  

“I’m ready to provide the aggressive planning and leadership needed in our growing county,” he said in a release. “With the issues Effingham is encountering in transportation, sewer, water and property taxes we must be proactive to ensure our growth is positive and enhances our high quality of life. I want to do all that I can to ensure that Effingham remains both family and business friendly.”  

Zeigler said he will collaborate with the state to improve Effingham’s transportation issues, work to unify county and municipal governments to ensure efficient services are provided to the county’s citizens and to support commercial growth to provide jobs for Effingham’s rapidly growing population.  

He is a graduate of Effingham County High School and the University of Notre Dame. He is an active member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, coaches football for the Effingham County Recreation Department and is a member of the Effingham County Athletics Hall of Fame. He is the president and co-founder of Unified Equipment Resources and resides in the southern part of Effingham with his wife Elaina and their children Kyle, Trent and Melanie.
