Over 100 citizens came out approximately one month ago to hear the report from the research by the state tourism team of the prospects for tourism in Effingham County. Thank you.

If you were in the audience that night, you were a part of a group of citizens that warmly received the team and their assessment of Effingham’s tourism opportunities. These opportunities are many, and there are those that are ready and need only promotion and there are those that will require efforts by the citizens of Effingham to make our gems of history really shine.

Tourism is an economic engine; we are next door to the largest tourist draw in the state, Savannah. It is only a short drive to our sites and events from the hottest tourist spot in the state. Sales tax dollars play an important role in the governmental activities in Effingham.

The Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau is now embarking on developing and promoting our historic/cultural sites and events. The announcement of specific projects will be made as the plans are developed. There is need for those willing to volunteer where the need and the task may be. If you would like to have a part in this vital economic development of Effingham, we would like to hear from you.
