GUYTON  -- The South Effingham Lady Mustangs took some big bites out of Richmond Hill on Thursday. It was their small bites that impressed their  first-year head coach, however.

Bunts played pivotal roles in scoring South Effingham's first three runs in its 9-1 victory.

"I like the long, gap hits but I like the bunts, too," Lady Mustangs head coach Samantha Tracy said. "I want to be able to score in every way possible."

Mattie Turner led the Lady Mustangs with two hits. Six of her teammates collected one base knock each.

Turner and Kaley Stone drove in two runs apiece.

Freshman Nevaeh Herrod was a stalwart on the mound, allowing three hits. She struck out three and walked none.
