The Effingham Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol met at Sweet Water Grill for its annual Christmas dinner.
Following the meal, Squadron Commander, Lt. Richard Bush announced that Cadet Capt. Twibell will be the Squadron’s Cadet Commander effective Jan. 1, 2011. Twibell set out his plans for the year which include regular meetings, several day trips and implementation of the “Cadet of the Quarter” program.
Besides the cadets and members of their families, Deputy Commander Maj. Carl Godbee and Group 6 Commander, Maj. Gene Warnock were also in attendance.
The squadron meets on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. at 226 Goshen Rd. Civil Air Patrol is open to youth from ages 12 to 21. Leadership, aerospace education and emergency services are the main focus of the program, which is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force.
