Bodies of boat accident victims discovered

SAVANNAH -- The bodies of two Effingham County brothers were found Sunday morning following a Friday night boating accident.

Joseph and Thomas Fox were in a group in a small boat that crashed into a dredge vessel in the Savannah River near Elba Island. All seven passengers were ejected. Five were rescued from the water and taken to a hospital.

According to a Coast Guard tweet, the search for the missing victims was suspended Saturday night but resumed at first light Sunday. According to TV reports, the Jasper County coroner confirmed their discovery.

The Coast Guard, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and other agencies participated in the search.
