Three grand champions were crowned in the city of Rincon’s 2010 Scarecrow Show-off.
The grand champion in community spirit went to 21 Auto Repair and the grand champion in residential went to Charlie Curtis of West 6th Street. The Effingham Herald’s Scare D. Crow was crowned grand champion in the business category.
Uniqueness first place awards went to: Judy Clark, Market Street-Residential and Sonic Drive-in-Business. Originality first-place awards went to:
Frank Owens, Lexington Avenue-Residential and Rincon Chiropractic-Business. Collegiate first place went to Lisa Bledsoe, Archibald Street-Residential. Military Support first place went to Amanda McNeal and Mary Tirpak, East Johnson Street-Residential, and The Springs at Effingham-
Business.
Faith and Beliefs first place went to Rincon First Christian Church. Second place went to Rincon First Baptist Church. The Effingham Chamber of Commerce got second place in Community Spirit for Shoeless Jack, its traveling scarecrow, Rincon Elementary School took third place in Community Spirit.
Ray McKinney was awarded for patriotism in the Business category and Community Awareness awards went to Burns Insurance-Business and
Roxanne Lockett-Residential.
