Marine Corps Pvt. William Dean Pittman graduated from basic military training at Parris Island, S.C., on Sept. 18.  Pittman completed an intensive, 12-week training program that included military discipline and physical fitness.

Pittman will be going to Camp Geiger, N.C., for School of Infantry training on Sept. 29 for four weeks and continue his training at Camp Johnson N.C., for his MOS (diesel mechanic) for 12 weeks.

He is the son of Kevin and Lisa Pittman of Guyton.

Pittman graduated from Effingham County High School in 2009.
